Join us for the Blakeman Gerber Indianapolis International Baroque Competition!

Our thrilling season finale introduces five exceptional young Baroque artists from around the world. Witness these rising stars compete live for the prestigious $15,000 Devona and Amos Gerber Award. Presented in partnership with Indianapolis Early Music, this quadrennial event promises passion, precision, and unforgettable artistry.

The finalists perform in the final round on July 12, 2026, at the Indiana History Center, as the concluding concert of the 60th Indianapolis Early Music Festival. Each finalist leads the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra in a Baroque solo concerto. Join us after the concert for a reception with the Laureates while the judges deliberate, then hear the exciting announcement of this year's winner!


Meet the Laureates

Kaya Gür, Violin

Violinist Kaya Gür is currently pursuing his master's degree at Juilliard School. His musical journey began at the age of 4 with classical violin, but over the years, his passion for Baroque violin has steadily grown. Having spent time in the Netherlands, where Baroque music is an essential part of the music education, his interest in this style has been deeply nurtured. Gür’s artistic vision is enriched by his passion for historical performance and a deep connection to Turkish traditional music, reflecting his cultural heritage.

 

Cordelia Mutter, Cello

Cordelia Mutter is a cellist specializing in both modern and historical performance. She recently completed her Master of Music in Baroque Cello Performance at The Juilliard School, where she performed with the Juilliard415 orchestra. Her performance experience spans orchestral, chamber, and continuo roles across a wide range of stylistic periods. Recent engagements include performing with Les Arts Florissants in Thiré, France, and appearing on the recent all-Rameau Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra/Juilliard415 collaboration tour.

 

Josh Liu, Violin

Born in Shanghai, China and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, baroque violinist Josh Liu has performed with notable ensembles such as Juilliard415, the Yale Schola Cantorum, and the Boise Baroque Orchestra. Josh began playing the violin at the age of five, and is now pursuing a Graduate Diploma in the Historical Performance department at The Juilliard School. He holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and the Yale School of Music.

Pablo O’Connell, Oboe

Pablo O’Connell is an NYC-based historical and modern oboist. Highly in demand as a freelance musician, Pablo performs with the Trinity Wall St Baroque Orchestra, the Sebastians, Carmel Bach Festival, and more. Spring 2026 highlights include performances of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and B minor Mass with the Sebastians, and releasing solo recordings of Venetian oboe concertos by Vivaldi and Marcello on period instruments. Pablo's dynamic and varied musical life also includes writing and recording original folk music.

Peter Lim, Recorder

Peter Lim is a harpsichordist and historical woodwinds player, specializing in historically informed performance. Born in South Korea, Peter began his musical path as a self-taught musician. Peter is currently enrolled in a specialized master’s program at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. As a performer, Peter has appeared in both solo and ensemble settings, collaborating with leading period-instrument ensembles including Handel and Haydn Society, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, and Apollo’s Fire.
