This premier volunteer event features more than 100 local nonprofits and civic organizations showcasing ways for Indianapolis’ young leaders to volunteer, serve on boards and committees, join organizations as ambassadors and ultimately make a difference throughout the city.

All Aboard Volunteer & Board Fair
For local residents who want to volunteer for an area nonprofit but don’t know where to start, as well as nonprofits looking for volunteers, committee members or board members, Leadership Johnson County has just the event for you.
The leadership-focused organization will host the All Aboard Community Volunteer and Board Fair to connect youth and adults who want to volunteer with the nonprofits who need them. The fair will be held in the auxiliary gym at Whiteland Community High School.

Bach Heritage Rehearsals
IBO musicians will be busy preparing our season opener, Bach Heritage, led by artistic director Barthold Kuijken.

Bach Heritage
We are all thankful for Johann Sebastian Bach’s immense creative output, in quantity and in quality, but sometimes it is forgotten that four of his sons were extremely talented as well. We present four works by this next generation of the Bachs: Wilhelm Friedeman (°1710), Carl Philipp Emmanuel (°1714), Johann Christoph Friedrich (°1732, the same year as Joseph Haydn), and Johann Christian (°1735). Through their compositions we experience the stylistic evolution from High Baroque over Sturm und Drang towards Rococo and Classicism – a fascinating voyage through time!

Incomprehensible Light Rehearsals
IBO musicians will be busy preparing our season opener, Incomprehensible Light: Bach Cantatas and the Prophet Simeon, led by Adriane Post and Brad Hughley.

Incomprehensible Light: Cantatas and the Prophet Simeon
Co-led by IBO concertmaster Adriane Post and St. Paul’s Director of Music Brad Hughley, this concert features J. S. Bach’s Cantata “Ich habe genug” BWV 82 for solo bass, sung by Jesse Blumberg, and the chorale cantata “Mit Fried und Freud,” BWV 125. The cantatas share a common theme and occasion for composition: The Presentation of Christ in the Temple, where the aged Simeon utters the canticle Nunc dimittis (“Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace”). To round out the concert, Adriane Post and Priscilla Herreid will perform Bach’s exquisite Concerto in C minor for oboe and violin, BWV 1060R.

Masterclass at Butler University
Artistic director Barthold Kuijken will give a masterclass to students at Butler University.

Towards Telemann Rehearsals
IBO musicians will be busy preparing Towards Telemann, led by Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken.

Towards Telemann
No composer comes out of nowhere: they all had examples, teachers, and colleagues. Telemann himself mentions that he took Lully and Campra as his models for instrumental suites. We add orchestral movements from an opera by the famous German opera composer Reinhard Keiser, who was strongly influenced by French models as well, and a sinfonia from a Vivaldi opera. No early 18 th century composer escaped from Vivaldi’s new and revolutionary style. In the second half of the concert, an Italianate flute concerto and a rather French-style suite by Telemann himself show how he combined this cosmopolitan training with more traditional German ingredients.
