About the Program

In September, leader Adriane Post directs a program centered around Johann Sebastian Bach and his famous family of composers. We also hear from his second cousin and lifelong friend, Johann Bernhard Bach, known for his close working relationship with Telemann, in an orchestral suite that features the whole band. Post will perform two of every violinist's favorite pieces, J.S. Bach's violin concerti in A Minor and E Major. Guest soloist Jaap ter Linden will play a concerto by one of Bach's main influences, Antonio Vivaldi. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, who in his lifetime eclipsed his fathers fame, will round out the program with a rollicking Sinfonia for the orchestra.
