JENNIFER KIRBY (she/they) is a Bloomington-based oboist who performs on both modern and historical instruments throughout Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. They play second oboe with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and the Bach Collegium Fort Wayne, and have appeared with Madison Bach Musicians and Bourbon Baroque in Louisville. A longtime collaborator with the Bloomington Bach Cantata Project, they have also directed two of its performances.

Originally drawn to Indiana University for modern oboe studies, Jennifer quickly embraced the Baroque oboe, studying with Washington McClain and Michael McCraw. They earned a Doctor of Music, Performer’s Diploma, and Master of Music in Oboe Performance, with minors in Historical Winds and Music History. Their undergraduate degree is from Northwest Missouri State University, and they look forward to returning to the region for a performance with the Kansas City Bach Consortium this spring.

Jennifer shares her life with wife, Liza (a fellow oboist), and their dog Bella. Together, they spend their days making reeds, listening to audiobooks, and watching movies—while Bella rotates snuggles between them.
