CURTIS FOSTER is a historical oboist and recorder player whose performances have been praised for their "brilliantly introverted charm" (Seattle Times). He appears regularly with North America's leading early music ensembles, including Tafelmusik, Handel & Haydn Society, Haymarket Opera, Les Boréades de Montréal, Seattle Baroque Orchestra, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, and Victoria Baroque Players, as well as Portland Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, Arion, and Mercury.
A sought-after teacher and mentor, Mr. Foster is on the faculty at the University of North Texas, where he teaches Baroque oboe and recorder. He has also taught Baroque oboe through the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Programme at the University of British Columbia and is regularly invited to present workshops and masterclasses throughout the US and Canada. During the summer months, he performs and teaches at festivals including the San Francisco Early Music Society's Baroque Workshop (where he serves as Assistant Director), Oregon Bach Festival, Vancouver Bach Festival, Victoria Baroque Instrumental Academy, and Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival.
Mr. Foster's recordings are available on Coro, ATMA Classique, Naxos, Tafelmusik Media, Cedille Records, and Indiana University Press. A native of Wichita, Kansas, he holds degrees from Wichita State University and Indiana University's Early Music Institute. He resides in Dallas, Texas
