BARTHOLD KUIJKEN ASSUMES ARTISTIC DIRECTOR POSITION OF INDIANAPOLIS BAROQUE ORCHESTRA
INDIANAPOLIS – Barthold Kuijken assumes the
artistic leadership of Indianapolis’ period instruments Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.
Mr. Kuijken, a native
of Belgium, is from a family that pioneered the historically informed performance movement. For many years, Kuijiken performed
in the Kuijken Quartet with his older brothers Wieland (cello) and Sigiswald (violin).
Kuijken has played principal

His discography includes most of the important 18th-century repertoire for the flute.
International music critics acclaim him as - “represent(ing) the state of the art in baroque performance: anyone serious about
baroque music, flute music, chamber music, or Handel…must hear this disc.”

stunning performance of early music. The Belgian trio comprising two of the three renowned Kuijken brothers [Barthold and
